Flag Football Overview
RYA Flag Football Program is a coed, non-contact in-house league designed for boys and girls aged Grades 1st - High school. Teams are grouped by grades. We offer a Spring Season - which begins in April and ends in June (typically the Saturday prior to the last day of school). Our Fall season begins in September and ends in November (typically the Saturday prior to the Thanksgiving holiday).
In an effort to keep the league fun and have competitive balance – the league holds player assessments prior to the formation of teams. Coach/Team and Carpool requests will be considered but not promised. All teams will practice once a week for no more than 1.5 hours; which is followed by one game per week on Saturdays. Assigned game times and game location remain the same for the length of the season.
Flag football is a non contact version of American Football where, instead of tackling players to the ground, the defensive team must remove a flag or flag belt from the ball carrier to prevent them from advancing the ball or scoring a touchdown.
